Thanks to the AmeriCorps Alums and Mass Inc teams for pulling together a great platform. I'm looking forward to the continuation of Massachusetts's legacy as a leader in service. After reading the one-page statement on the State of Service, I have one suggestion. While much focused on elevating and organizing service opportunities, I want to see more focus on metrics and measurement. Specifically, let's use this opportunity to find the best practices, or the non-profit organizations that have created high-impact service opportunities that have begun to move the needle on societal issues. I would be frustrated with a large scale initiative that only focuses on increased participation, when we could use this platform to identify successes and develop case studies that allow for wide spread implementation of proven societal impact. Hopefully others are on board with this suggestion. Thanks again for all the good work. Looking forward to seeing this come alive!

I appreciate the goal of further elevating the importance of service across the state. However, I would encourage those promoting this to take care to build upon the strong network of programs that already exists on the state, and not promote parallel structures. In particular, the Chief State Service Officer idea I feel while well intentioned seems like it could be a duplication of the role already ably filled by the Mass. Service Alliance as the lead agency promoting service in the state.
