Learning for Growth: The Gateway Citites Education Summit

The Beechwood Hotel, 363 Plantation Street, Worcester MA

This event, sponsored by The Nellie Mae Education Foundation, MassINC, and the Urban Initiative at UMass Dartmouth, brought together policymakers, practitioners and elected officials towards the shared goal of improving education in the state’s Gateway Cities. The summit was to the most comprehensive gathering to date on the connection between education and economic development in the Gateway Cities and the urgent need to ready students of all ages for college and careers.  Governor Deval Patrick delivered the keynote, with Secretary of Education Paul Reville, as well as mayors and city managers from the Gateway Cities, also participating in the program.
