Two days after the elections, experts weigh in on “What Just Happened? What’s Next?”

Tom Ashbrook, Carole Simpson to lead panels of experts at Emerson’s Cutler Majestic Theatre

MassINC, CommonWealth Magazine, WBUR and Emerson College present a special night of political commentary, fresh from the national and state-wide elections. 

When: Thursday evening, November 8 at 7:00pm, Doors/cash bar opens at 6:00pm 

Where: Emerson College’s Cutler Majestic Theatre, 219 Tremont Street, Boston 

Who: Carole Simpson, leader in residence in Emerson College’s journalism department and the first African-American woman to anchor a major network newscast and to moderate a presidential debate, leads a discussion of the election results in “What Just Happened?” Joining her are former Massachusetts governor Bill Weld, Boston Globe columnist Brian McGrory and Jim Braude of 96.9 FM and NECN. They’ll examine the election results, the voting patterns and the political implications of the outcome, with special insights provided by Steve Koczela of the MassINC Polling Group.

Tom Ashbrook, host of On Point, moderates a conversation with former ambassador and undersecretary of state R. Nicholas Burns, who now teaches diplomacy at the Harvard Kennedy School; policy expert Elaine Kamarck, who also teaches at the Kennedy School, and Nina Easton, Washington editor of Fortune magazine. With expertise in both domestic and foreign affairs, they’ll look at what the election results mean for United States policy at home and abroad in “What’s Next?”
