Pure polling
There’s been a lot of talk about polling this election season, with
much of it focused on who’s up and down; who’s leading and trailing in
each race. While "horse race" data has an important place in an
election year, we sometimes lose sight of the issues driving the
election. At MassINC, we are starting our own brand of opinion polling
that captures MassINC’s independent, issues-based perspective, as well
as our core strengths in dissemination and communication.
The MassINC Polling Group,
launched this month, takes public opinion polling seriously. Led by
veteran national and international pollster Steve Koczela, who comes to
Boston from Washington, D.C., the Polling Group is a fresh new player
in town. As a subsidiary of MassINC, it offers a promising alternative
that will give us a better understanding of what's behind the numbers.
