Program Overview
About the Civic Sense network-
The Associate Board drives MassINC's Civic Sense network, an events and programming series aimed at furthering the Board's goal of cultivating a community of civically-engaged young people in the Bay State. The program connects young professionals in business, government, and the nonprofit sectors, and provides them with an outlet for shaping public policy.
Using social media, an online forum, and a number of events throughout the year, the MassINC Civic Sense network includes more than 500 members throughout Massachusetts. In 2010, the Civic Sense program launched an initiative to improve the State of Service in Massachusetts, and also hosted a number of events at which members came together to discuss issues such as corporate social responsibility, education policy, and the viability of young politicians.

History of Civic Sense-
MassINC's Civic Sense network evolved from the successful RealTalk program:
Since 2004, MassINC's RealTalk has provided a lively and informative way for 20 and 30-somethings to get involved in Massachusetts public life. During the five years of our popular event series, we've heard from best-selling authors, committed teachers, innovative entrepreneurs, and high-tech whiz kids. We've considered whether it's possible to lead the life of an artist while still affording a T pass and what it takes to start a business in Massachusetts. We've discussed environmental policy with the head of the state's green efforts, and engaged in some good, old-fashioned schmoozing with political candidates at the local and state levels. Most of all, we've had fun - and we hope you will too.
