MassINC and the Midas Collaborative invite Gateway City leaders to join us for an online webinar exploring action municipal governments can take to spur economic development by helping residents build wealth.

This invitation-only event, sponsored by The Nellie Mae Education Foundation, MassINC, and the Urban Initiative at UMass Dartmouth, will bring together policymakers, practitioners and elected officials towards the shared goal of improving education in the state's Gateway Cities.

The June 20 forum, sponsored by the Massachusetts Institute for a New Commonwealth and the Brookings Institution, was hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and included extensive comments from Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and Bruce Katz of the Brookings Institution, with each lambasting failed federal leadership.

With immigrants playing a larger role in the state’s economy, as well as changing the social and cultural fabric of Massachusetts, those most familiar with their challenges and assets packed a Boston hotel ballroom Thursday morning to discuss the issues.
